Algiers Point doesn’t have any fast food joints or chain restaurants. And that’s just the way this historic neighborhood likes it.
As expected, the local restaurants offer basics such as burgers and pizza, as well as typical Louisiana fare like fried seafood, po-boys, and gumbo. But you can also find hummus, barbeque, hoagies, and Cajun/Asian fusion in “da Point” - as well as a few atmospheric spots to have a drink.
The Dry Dock Cafe
This full service restaurant and bar is just steps from the downtown ferry landing so sometimes a few savvy tourists join the locals. The landing and levee are a nice view from the handful of outdoor tables. Inside there’s a dining room and large bar where people gather to socialize or watch football.
The menu includes seafood entrees, soups, salads, po-boys, as well as a large variety of appetizers like barbecued shrimp, mini tacos, buffalo wings, and “Cajsian” wraps. And Barqs root beer is available in the bottle. Sunday brunch, daily specials, and a child’s menu are offered Open seven days a week.

The thin and crispy pizza is awesome and this might be the cutest pizza place in the world. It’s an old Gulf gas station from the 1930’s. There is no dining inside the tiny building, but you can sit outside around the single old-fashioned defunct gas pump. The pizza has a robust sauce and the usual selections of toppings. Limited delivery is available. Open seven days a week.

Vine and Dine Wine Bar, Restaurant and Shop

They also serve barbeque, alligator gumbo, Louisiana sausages, soups, salads, and house-made hummus. And of course, a large variety of wine and cheese boards. Sangria Saturdays offer tropical drink specials with free salsa and chips. Open Monday through Saturday.

The breakfast menu has traditional and light options as well as creative signature dishes that include crawfish cakes with poached eggs and almond crusted French toast. Old Point Bar
This is the real thing - An authentic old-time New Orleans neighborhood joint on the River Road. The atmosphere couldn’t be more laid back and everyone is welcome.
There’s live music on stage almost every night and on Sunday afternoon. The corner bar is often the base for block parties (that inevitably spread to the levee). The green shamrocks painted on the street from the party last March are still visible.
The crowd includes all ages, attracting live music fans from across the city and neighbors who like a bar they can walk home from. It’s also very dog friendly. Dogs often sleep under the tables and sometimes even sit at the bar. Some patrons gather for card or chess games. Pool tables and darts are available and there is a large selection of draft beer. The outdoor tables are just steps from the Mississippi River levee. Open late seven days a week.

Crown and Anchor Pub

It offers darts, board games, books, and trivia pub quiz on Thursday nights. The walls and ceiling are covered with all things British. Open seven days a week.
