Here's a select list of restaurants in New Orleans where you can take your dad out for a special Father's Day Brunch and/or Dinner this year.
Of course, just about every downtown hotel and lots of restaurants in New Orleans have a fantastic Sunday brunch - often with live music - every Sunday of the year, including Father's Day. So it won't be hard to find a place to do brunch. (Likewise, many restaurants (although not all - so check first) are open on Sunday in the city and beyond.)
This list includes Father's Day meals that were especially advertised for dear old (or young) dad - from French Quarter icons to a local chain that gives dad the gift of beer.
Plus there's a link to the participating Local Food Challenge restaurants if you've made the Locavore pledge for June.
The Blue Room at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans has a special Father's Day Lunch featuring entrees choices from Blue Crab Omelets to Prime Rib to Gulf Fish and more. Plus buffet selections, desserts by Pastry Chef Debra Hyde, and free "free-flowing" champagne. Check out the website to see the entire menu. And live jazz by The James River Movement. Seatings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free valet parking.
Broussard's, the iconic and atmospheric New Orleans French Quarter restaurant, is holding a Father's Day Brunch , noon - 4 p.m. with their true New Orleans Creole offerings.
The five course meals includes appetizer, soup, salad, entree and dessert. Entree choices include short ribs, veal grillades, and several dishes combining egg creations with meat or fish. Very New Orleans, very delicious.
If you take your dad to any Zea Grill restaurant anytime on Father's Day, he'll receive a some nice lagnaippe at the end of the meal -- Free beer to take home.
All dads get a four-pack sampler of four different bottles of beer with the purchase of a minimum of two entrees at all Zea restaurants in New Orleans (and Louisiana for that matter). If you are outside Louisiana for Father's Day, check the Zea website for Father's Day specials in other states.
Celebrate Father's Day deliciously and traditionally at the Sunday brunch at the French Quarter's Royal Sonesta, named after and in the tradition of Madam Begue, the original creator of the brunch right here in New Orleans back in the old days.
The Audubon Clubhouse Cafe, right on the Audubon Park Golf Course off Magazine Street, Uptown New Orleans, is having a Father's Day brunch with a variety of breakfast and lunch selections on its buffet. Visit the Audubon Zoo or take a walk in the park after your meal.
If you and/or your dad are trying to successfully complete the month-long Local Food Challenge in New Orleans which continues through the end of June, you can still take dad out to eat on Father's Day and keep true to the Locafore Pledge.
There are lots of restaurants - from fancy to simple - that have promised selections on their menus in June that are all-local food and fulfill the criteria and mileage limits of the Challenge. So check out the list and make a reservation.
