Restaurant Deals in New Orleans for Coolinary Month

$20 Lunch and $35 Dinner or Less at over 50 Restaurants


In August, Coolinary Restaurant Month offers special meal deals at over 50 restaurants in the New Orleans including some the most famous. This "celebration of dining in America's most delicious city" is a thrifty foodie's dream. It is a perfect way to celebrate surviving another long hot summer in New Orleans and save money too.

During Coolinary, New Orleans restaurants offer fixed multiple course meals at often amazing bargains. Three-course dinners cost $35 or less. Lunch, either two or three courses, cost just $20 or less. Not all restaurants on the Coolinary list offer both lunch and dinner specials.

The dining promotion's purpose is to tempt people out to the restaurants during the hot month of August when the tourist trade is traditionally slow. However, like many of our native secrets, the tourists have discovered the deals and many now come to New Orleans for Coolinary .

Coolinary is an awesome opportunity to dine at world famous historic New Orleans restaurants in the French Quarter at discount prices, including Antoine's, Galatoire's, Brennan's, Broussard's, Tujaque's, and the Court of Two Sisters. So if you've never been to one of these iconic restaurants, August is the time to go and check them off your bucket list.

The iconic bar Pat O'Brien's has an attached courtyard restaurant which is part of Coolinary, as is the Original French Market Restaurant and Bar in the French Market District.

Other posh French Quarter restaurants that offer a great August bargains include The Grill Room, GW Fins, and Muriel's Jackson Square.

Coolinary season is a good time try the brand new Criollo's which features seasonal dishes and local ingredients. It's adjoins the newly expanded Carousel Bar inside the Monteleone Hotel.

And the dining deals are not limited to the French Quarter. Other downtown spots include Mulate's Cajun Restaurant and Meson 923. Options also include Café Degas in Mid-City and the American Sector inside the WWII Museum in the Warehouse District, as well as iconic uptown restaurants Pascal Manale's and Commander's Palace, where many a special occasion is celebrated.

In addition to Brennan's and Commander's Palace, it seems like every restaurant inside the city limits that involves a Brennan is a Coolinary spot, such as Mr. B's, Palace Café, Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse and Café Adelaide as well as Commander's and Brennan's.

Café Adalaide also doing its part to bring back the days of the hat,. So it offers free drinks if you wear a hat to its weekend Brunch with Hatitude -but baseball caps do not count.

Galvez, the Spanish cuisine restaurant in the French Quarter, has a 5 - 7 p.m. Happy Hour with a $5 special cocktail of the day, $2 domestic beer, $3 well drinks and premium beer and $4 house wine. Have a bargain bite to eat too with $4 tapas. Galvez also has a $3 Mimosa or Bloody Mary at its Sunday brunch.

Broussard's has a 3-6 p.m. Happy Hour in both the courtyard and inside bar. The Grill Room holds its Happy Hour on Tuesday - Friday, 5 - 7 p.m.
