Veterans Day Tribute & Parade in NOLA - Sun.The Greater New Orleans Veterans Council holds it's annual ceremonies and parade downtown on Veterans Days proper, this year that's Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 starting at noon. There are ceremonies at the Veterans Monument at the Mercedes Benz Superdome which is on the Plaza Level. Then a Military Parade starting at N. Peters st. and Explanade Ave and ending at the Morial Convention Center.
Free Veteran Cruises on the NatchezVeterans may ride the Natchez for FREE on Monday's 1l:30 and 2:30 cruises on the Mississippi River with live music. (Nov.12, 2012). Board 30 minutes ahead of cruise time. Tickets are for veterans only (Accompanying guests must purchase a ticket) and do not include food or drink.
NOLA Patriots - MetairieThe names of U.S. Veterans will be read on Sunday (Nov. 11, 2012) during an event by NOLA Patriots at the Veterans Memorial across from Lakeside Mall in Metairie. Opening ceremonies begin at 11:15 and include a reading of Louisiana names. At noon, over 2000 names of U.S Veterans will be read as part of a national effort to read the name of all U.S. Veterans.
Offers include Veterans free meals or food from Denny's Chili's, Appleby's and Outback just to name a few. There are also Home Depot and Lowe's Veterans Day discounts and more.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at 2 p.m., the St. Tammany Parish Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 697, Slidell hosts a Vietnam Veterans Monument dedication at the Forest Lawn Cemetery,1751 Gause Blvd.

At 11 a.m, an Observance with St. Tammany Jr. High School Band, dignitaries and the Northshore Honor Guard is set for 11 a.m. at the Veterans Monumnet, Sgt. Alfred and Cleveland Streets, in Slidell, Louisiana. Nov. 9, 2012.
Also at 11 a.m., a Veterans celebration event will be held at the Pontchartrain Club in Mandeville, Louisiana featuring the Mandeville High Band, Woodlake students, and the mayor. Nov. 9, 2012.
At 5 p.m., an observance with military speakers and a patriotic musical programs by Lyon Elementary School will be held at the Justice Center in Covington, Louisiana. Nov. 9, 2012
The WWII Museum will hold a Veterans Day commemoration on Nov. 10, 2012, the day before Veterans Day. The "2012 Celebration of Heroes" will honor all veterans. There's an all-day Knit-In of scarfs for WWII vets. Entertainment starts up at noon and ceremonies begin at 3 p.m. For more information, call 504-528-1944 x 359, including veterans seating.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, Veterans Day itself will feature the Navy Band New Orleans performance at 10:30 a.m. followed by a traditional moment of silence.
The free event is held in the Gretna Farmers Market area at 301 Huey P. Long Ave. near the Gretna arch, 6:30 - 9 p.m. Music starts at 6 p.m. It's a covered outdoor structure.
The celebration includes a tribute ceremony with the dedication of a wreath, along with live musical entertainment, and refreshments at one of metro-New Orleans farmers markets.
