New Orleans Christmas events are everywhere, including on the stage. There are plays, shows and Nutcrackers in theaters around the city, on the Northshore, and beyond. They are sure to get almost anyone, even Scrooge himself, into the holiday spirit.

Holiday options include several classic Nutcracker ballets and a Southern Rep production of A Christmas Carol. For a laugh during the holiday season, check out a few of the comedic Christmas plays in New Orleans including an annual spoof of Dickens' Scrooge tale and a live version of the movie, A Christmas Story.

A Christmas Carol - Spud as Scrooge

Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" is on stage in New Orleans with John "Spud" McConnell starring as Scrooge. It a Southern Rep Theater productions at the Contempoary Arts Center (CAC) on Camp Street in the Warehouse District. Shows are through mid-December 2012.

A Christmas Carol - The Whole Story!

A Christmas Carol - The Whole Story is funny and fun for the whole family. This wacky take-off on the classic Charles Dickens holiday story by writer/director Rene Piazza is in its 19th year. This this comedy, Scrooge is visited and bothered by the past/present/future ghosts as well as unexpected characters such as Cinderella.

Nutcracker Ballets in NOLA & Beyond

Attending a performance of the Nutcracker ballet with its iconic music by Peter Tchaikovsky is a traditional outing during the Christmas holidays in New Orleans.

The River Region Ballet has performed the full length Nutcracker ballet since 1995 in Destrehan, Louisiana. There's also a special shorter 1-hour kid's matinee show to accommodate shorter attention usuallyy with a Sugar Plum Party with the cast.

Victory Belles Holiday Show at the WWII Museum

This is just what you need to get into the Christmas spirit. The singing Victory Belles Ring in the Holidays at the National World War II Museum in the Warehouse District of New Orleans.

The musical trio present a brand new show at the Stage Door Canteen on Andrew Higgens Drive between Camp and Magazine Streets.

A Christmas Story in Slidell

Slidell Little Theater can be counted on for an appropriate Christmas play during the holidays. In 20122 it was Miracle on 34th Street. In 2012, it's the live version of the hilarious holiday movie: A Christmas Story. Call 985.641.4800.
