Julia was born in New Orleans, grew up mostly in California, and returned as a graduate student at Tulane University in 1987. After getting her Ph.D. in English literature a few years later, she realized she never wanted to leave the Big Easy.

Julia works as a freelance writer, editor, and website designer. She loves promoting New Orleans to the rest of the world and is currently working on several New Orleans-themed writing and crafting projects.
