Recycle Your Xmas Tree

Follow me on:

Still have you're Christmas Tree? (We're still in the 12 Days of Christmas after all!)  If so, you can probably recycle it.  Most will be used to help slow coastal erosion in Louisiana (and Jefferson Parish says it may make mulch out of some trees.)

Trees have to be naked - no flocking, tinsel, ornaments, tree stands, plastic bags, etc.   And they have to be "trees" --  real ones only - no artificial trees no matter how green.

In New Orleans, put trees out for your regular collection days during January 10, 11 and 12.

In Jefferson Parish - put trees outside on the night of Jan. 9, 2013 and trees should be picked up on Jan 10, 11 or 12th.

In St. Tammany Parish - drop your tree off by Jan 31, 2013 at the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds, Covington or the old Levee Board building on Military Road, Slidell; weekdays 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.
