Whether or not you participate in Black Friday or Cyber Monday, be sure to "celebrate" Small Business today and shop local shops in metro New Orleans.   Where you spend your money has impact, so use your purchasing power to support local small businesses.  It's shopping in your enlightened self interest since it helps the community and local economy.

Try the retailers on Magazine St., in the French Quarter, the Warehouse District and  your own neighborhood.   Check out locally- owned  art supply stores, pet shops, jewelry stores, and gift shops.  How about the art galleries in the Warehouse District, French Quarter, Uptown or beyond?.

Gift certificates from local establishments like restaurants, coffee shops,  spas, hair salons,  yoga studios, and retail shops make great gifts.   Some local businesses will have  promotions, gift certificate deals, special sales, and  such on Small Business Saturday.

An don't forget our great  local restaurants - neighborhood, historic,  fancy, family, and the dives - that could use your patronage especially in a tough economy.      Remember we even have our own local pizza, hamburger, and po-boy spots, so consider skipping the fast food chains or other national restaurants at least for the day, skip the giant fast food chains too.  And don't forget the great  local places for breakfast in New Orleans.
