Things are heating up in Louisiana prep football tonight. 160 top High School football teams hit the gridiron last weekend in the first Friday of playoff games. The winners will be back on the field tonight for Regionals.
Eventually, ten teams across five classifications will make it to the championship competition at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome next month.
Local New Orleans area teams that are still in the 5A competition, the highest team classification, are the Mandeville High Skippers which shut out Covington High School last week with a score of 31 - zilch. The mighty Mandeville team will take on Central High School in Baton Rouge tonight.
Meanwhile, the Jesuit Blue Jays, which beat West Jefferson in the first play-off, will take on Airline in Bossier City. The Rummel Raiders defeated Lafayette last week and will play against and at Dutchtown in Ascencion Parish tonight.
The winners tonight will go on to the Quarterfinal play-offs on Nov. 23, 2012. Next are the Semi-Finals on Nov. 30, 2012. The five Superdome Championship matches will be on Dec, 8, 2012.
