The BP Well is Capped - Let's Have a Good Weekend With New Orleans Jazz

Follow me on:

We all know that the favorite music genre in New Orleans is Jazz (or maybe Funk, I can't decide.) Anyway, Jazz is an always a welcome sound to the ears of a local and visitors as well. Jazz is New Orleans' music, we started it.  Today we celebrate the fact that the BP oil well is capped, at least temporarily, and it's the 99th birthday of Lionel Ferbos, the master trumpet player. Lionel has been playing Jazz in New Orleans almost from the beginning of Jazz and he's still going strong. You can catch his regular gig at the Palm Court Cafe. In fact, Lionel stills plays at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest, and the Satchmo Summer Fest on a regular basis.

What better weekend to celebrate our heritage and go out to listen to some Jazz, especially since the BP well is, at least temporarily capped. Make it over to Preservation Hall, Irvin Mayfield's, or one of the clubs on Frenchmen Street and you'll remember again why we can't live anywhere else.
